PRESS RELEASE

Due to the light aircraft crashing into the Irish Sea and the subsequent involvement of the crew of GB Row aboard British Orchid, the crew have decided to postpone their attempt to row around GB.

The knock on effect of the incident meant that they lost valuable time on top the time they lost to the storm earlier in the week further south in the Irish Sea. Due to the hazardous and worsening sea conditions around Northern Scotland, they have simply missed their weather window and intend to re-start their attempt when this seasonal weather window opens again in June 2010.

As of 0800 BST 14th August 2009, the crew have still not been able to make contact with pilot John O’Shaughnessy but understand he is safe and well and their best wishes go out to him.
