British Orchid

British Orchid has already proven itself by setting the world record for crossing the Atlantic in 2008. It has a 6 foot keel beneath it which holds it extremely steady in the water, as well as saving a lot of extra weight on board. The Orchid Crew managed to reach speeds of 6 Knotts on flat water which is very impressive, and puts them in a very positive stead to beat the current world record.

Built from composite materials, it is extremely lightweight, at only 160kg. Even Fully laden with the kit and crew, this sleek boat will still be only approx 800kg, extremely light for an ocean rowing boat.
